Corcovado National Park Tour
Description
The Corcovado National Park is a full day tour, we arrive to Punta Uvita and take a short boat transit to Corcovado. During this short boat trip you will have the opportunity to spot whales that come to our coast to give birth, as well as the chance to see spotted, bottle nosed or spinner dolphins.
Once at Corcovado National park we will begin one of two guided hikes to observe the bounty of flora and fauna. National Geographic has called Corcovado National park "the most biologically intense place on Earth in terms of biodiversity". You will enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch and continue your second hike, each hike is approximately 2 hours.
Some of the most frequently viewed wildlife includes jaguars, four species of sea turtles, anteaters, 220 species of butterflies, sloths, crocodiles, poison-arrow frogs, several species of monkeys, and, with luck, maybe even a tapir. All of the four species of turtles-olive Ridley, leatherback, hawksbill and Pacific green-are known to lay their eggs along the sandy coastal shores.
Corcovado National Park, known as the Amazon of Costa Rica, is the largest stronghold of primary forest on a Pacific coastline that has been all but destroyed from Mexico to South America. Its 41,788 hectares encompass eight habitats, from mangrove swamp and palm grove to mountain forest. The park protects more than 400 species of birds (20 are endemic), 116 of amphibians and reptiles, and 139 of mammals-representing 10 percent of the mammals in the Americas.
