Rincon de la Vieja National Park is home to an intriguing combination of volcanic geological wonders and pristine tropical forests that span six life zones. The main attraction is the smoother cinder cone Volcano, Rincon de la Vieja. There are also 9 craters that are scattered through Rincon de la Vieja National Park. This collection of volcanic peaks are the most active in the Guanacaste Mountains , where major volcanic activity occurred during the latter half of the 1960's. The Von Seebach crater is still currently active, continually venting steam and the occasional volcanic hiccup.

Spanning 14,084 hectares (34,800 acres), Rincon de La Vieja National Park is filled with a wide range of natural wonders that include nine volcanic craters, pristine tropical forests, waterfalls, and hot springs.
You will have the opportunity to spot such creatures as howler monkeys, sloths, tapirs, and even pumas. Your naturalist guide will help to interpret and inform as you hike along the park's trails, ensuring an exciting and educational day spent in one of Costa Rica's most magnificent national parks.
